Phil Stubbs

A history & politics graduate (far too many years ago!), Phil is a former political editor for the Derby Telegraph.

After stumbling into a career in the printing industry, Phil eventually left his job as commercial manager for one of Europe’s largest label printing firms to retrain as a journalist.

A year and one NCTJ qualification later he joined the ranks of the Derby Telegraph, where he passed his senior journalism exams and respectively became the local government correspondent, assistant news editor and, latterly, political editor. During his career as a journalist, Phil has interviewed the likes of Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Michael Portillo, Ann Widdecombe and Nick Clegg.

Phil was then lured into the world of PR, initially working for a full-service ad agency, then, in 2008, setting up his own business, Stubbs PR Limited. Over the years he has represented clients in numerous sectors, including construction, retail, leisure, education, brewing, fashion, finance and architecture. Now, after establishing a close working relationship over a few years with Tina at Poppy PR, Phil and Tina decided to officially join forces.
